    The Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation mission is to improve the lives of all patients, families, and communities through nursing-driven innovation; The foundation is committed to improving the health and healthcare of all people, especially groups and communities who experience inequity, discrimination and indifference, with a goal to help ignite and develop game-changing interventions and cultivate a vibrant ecosystem of nurse innovators.

    Funded Initiatives

    Hillman Emergent Innovation (HEI) provides up to five $50K grants for 12-18 months. Hillman Innovations in Care (HIC) historically awarded $600K each to two organizations. Recent grants totaling $1.5 million to University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University, $1.2 million to Community of Hope and University of Texas at Austin, and $500K for serious illness and end of life care initiatives.
