The Teagle Foundation works to support and strengthen liberal arts education, which we see as fundamental to meaningful work, effective citizenship, and a fulfilling life. Our aim is to serve as a catalyst for the improvement of teaching and learning in the arts and sciences while addressing issues of financial sustainability and accountability in higher education.
Knowledge for Freedom programs inviting underserved high school students to study humanity's deepest questions; Cornerstone: Learning for Living co-sponsored with NEH to reinvigorate humanities in general education; Education for American Civic Life preparing students for democratic participation; Bridge Grant for Knowledge for Freedom; Visions of Freedom in America; Journeys in Justice programs.
Two-stage application process: 3-5 page concept papers serve as preliminary applications submitted to proposals@teagle.org. After review, limited number of applicants invited to submit full proposals through online application system. Concept papers reviewed three times per year with deadlines December 1, March 1, and August 1 for Education for American Civic Life. Planning grants up to $25,000 for 6-12 months; implementation grants up to $350,000 for 24-month periods.
