    The William G. Pomeroy Foundation is committed to supporting the celebration of community history and care for families facing a blood cancer diagnosis. The foundation makes grants to 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit educational institutions and local, state and federal government entities that support their two-part mission, with one part being to help communities across the United States celebrate their history and cultural heritage.

    The Pomeroy Foundation supported 26 organizations in 2020 with programs focused on celebrating and preserving history, with an average grant size of $14,478 and a median grant size of $5,000.     How to Apply

    Starting today, we're accepting the online letter of intent (LOI) to apply for a marker through Friday, April 12. They have an instructional guide on how to apply available on their website. This program is open to local, state and federal government entities, nonprofit academic institutions and 501(c)(3) organizations in New York State. Student-led applications for NYS Historic markers will be accepted on a rolling basis through our Pomeroy Education Program. Educators may complete the LOI with their students at any time. Primary source documentation is required to verify historical accuracy. The applying agency is responsible for providing photocopies of sources and specific statements used to verify historical facts.
