The Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation funds innovative projects that advance solutions to basic and enduring problems in the US in art, environment and learning differences, with an overall emphasis on education. For all other grants, accepts two-page letters of inquiry by mail, although letters very rarely result in grant opportunities. Grantmaking generally results from consultations with experts to proactively identify organizations whose approaches match their strategies.
University overhead/indirect costs cannot be included in budgets. Staff salaries, benefits, overhead and general operating expenses should not be included. Exhibitions that do not involve contemporary art (post-1950) and exhibitions past early development stage are excluded.
