Since 1973, the Midland Area Community Foundation has approached philanthropy through investing assets and distributing returns to local nonprofits with the overarching goal to enrich and improve the quality of life in Midland County – for good, for ever, for all; They serve as a trusted steward of funds, championing causes their donors and supporters care about.
Over 330 scholarships granted in 2022 totaling over $800k; Youth Action Council considers grant requests up to $10,000 that have direct impact on improving lives of young people in Midland County; CARE Grants provide up to $30,000 in funding for regional programs focused on quality of life, STEAM, and workforce development; Ready For School preschool scholarship program; Midland Area Career & College Access Network for postsecondary education barriers.

Grants are open to all 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies, educational institutions, and government entities serving Midland County. The Community Foundation offers monthly informal Q&A Zoom meetings (first Wednesday of each month at 3 PM) for those interested in learning more about grant processes. Mini-grant applications will not be considered for political or religious activities, missions, or teachings; for equipment that is not an integral part of the project; for salaries or incentives for volunteers; or for previously incurred debt. Funds are not eligible for use in fundraising events, annual fundraising campaigns or other annual events. Funding will not supplant existing funding, nor is it meant to replace services currently offered. Unused funds must be returned to the Foundation at the end of the rolling calendar year in which the grant was awarded.
