    We invest in and partner with organizations and groups working to end intergenerational poverty in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. We strive to use a relationship centered approach that is driven by values, centered on relationships, aware of how power works, and prioritizes equity, trust, and ongoing partnership.

    Funded Initiatives

    Focus on supporting organizations led by and serving Black people, people of color, and other communities historically marginalized. Partner with organizations working to change systems and root causes that lead to intergenerational poverty. Move away from traditional responsive grantmaking to proactive, strategic partnerships.

    Foundation has moved away from traditional responsive grantmaking. If a community organization is strongly aligned, the Grant Program Team invites organizations to submit strategic applications via SJF grant platform, Fluxx.     Geographic restrictions to Kalamazoo County, Michigan only. Must be 501(c)(3) Public Charity or educational institution. Must have board-approved nondiscrimination policy. Capital campaigns receive limited funding. Organizations must be led by and accountable to people most impacted by issues.
