    Consumer Reports ($5 million in October 2024) to accelerate CR's vision of a digital marketplace where safety, cybersecurity, and transparency are standard; Electronic Frontier Foundation ($100,000 grant in February 2025) to support work in cybersecurity and trustworthy journalism; Bob Woodruff Foundation ($10 million in 2023) to support comprehensive mental health services for veterans and their families through the Got Your 6 Network; University of Washington Center for an Informed Public ($1 million) for rapid-response research on election-related misinformation; Columbia University ($10 million endowment) for the Craig Newmark Center for Journalism Ethics and Security; CUNY Graduate School of Journalism ($20 million endowment); In 2023, pledged $100 million to organizations focused on veterans and military families.

    How to Apply

    Applications can be submitted at any time through the application page at craignewmarkphilanthropies.org/apply. Final proposals for funding must be submitted through the website with instructions. CNP reviews proposals on a rolling basis. For veterans and military families grants, applicants must apply via the grants portal on the Bob Woodruff Foundation website. Supports public charities in good standing described under Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) or (2) of the Internal Revenue Code.
