    The Mary Morton Parsons Foundation believes in making our region a more vibrant, inclusive place, where learning is celebrated, history is shared, and every resident is taken care of. The mission is to support non-profit organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia primarily for capital projects that serve the greater community.

    Funded Initiatives

    Awards $5-7 million annually for capital projects including contributing to capital campaigns, funding the purchase of technology, transportation, and equipment, and supporting special needs arising from COVID-19. To date has awarded over $143 million in capital projects from arts to historic preservation to fundamental community needs.

    How to Apply

    Two-step process: (1) Submit Contact Form by August 29 for fall cycle, (2) If invited, submit full application by September 15. Spring cycle Contact Form due February 28, application due March 15. Grants fund no more than 1/3 of project cost on challenge/matching basis.

    Does Not Fund

    Does not make grants to individuals, debt reduction, endowments, research, general operating expenses, churches or religious programs without secular focus (except historic preservation), local chapters of national associations, mass mailings, umbrella organizations, state and local government entities (with limited exceptions), organizations that received grants within last 5 years, multi-year funding.
