    Since 1993, it's been the Dollar General Literacy Foundation's mission to ensure neighbors have access to meaningful education. The Foundation believes that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to receive a basic education and invests in literacy programs that are increasing access, enhancing the quality of instruction, and inspiring and advancing innovation.

    How to Apply

    Foundation offers Adult, Family, Summer Reading, and Youth Literacy grants. Application deadlines: Adult/Family/Summer Reading due February 6, 2025; Youth Literacy applications open March 6, 2025. Organizations must be within 15 miles of Dollar General store.

    Does Not Fund

    Geographic restriction to within 15-mile radius of Dollar General stores. Must provide direct literacy services. Two-year rule applies for consecutive grants. Organizations must be 501c3 nonprofit, school, or library.
