The Kemmons Wilson Family Foundation was created in 1960 as a vehicle to make positive investments into the city of Memphis. The foundation intends to positively impact and transform the Memphis, Tennessee community through grantmaking in the following categories: community outreach, and development advancement of youth, enriching education, faith-based ministries, and health and research related organizations. We do all this because we were raised by Kemmons and Dorothy to know better and to do right. They taught us that Memphis is our family, that we all belong to each other.
Building Strong Families, Innovation Grants, and Big Bets. The Wilson Society: a civic leadership program at Memphis area high schools facilitated in partnership with LITE Memphis and Bridges, USA. Innovation Grants: One time grants that support original and creative thinking aligned with Building Strong Families approach to disrupting generational poverty. In 2023, the foundation gave $1,429,869 in grants with 55 awards.
