Kars 4 Kids: A 990-Sourced Due Diligence Memo
May 18, 2026Michael J. Fern
After last week's California ruling against Kars4Kids, I ran the organization through a public-data diligence screen to ask a narrower question: what would the Form 990 filings have shown before the court did?
The memo is a 24-page filing-based read on Kars4Kids and its related entities (Oorah Inc. and Junk For Joy Inc.), sourced from seven years of Form 990 filings (2018–2024). It covers financial resilience, revenue structure, expense composition, governance, related-party flows, peer benchmarking against a 25-org NTEE T30 cohort, and 17 open diligence questions.
This is not a charity rating, legal finding, or impact assessment. It is a public-data read intended to demonstrate what 990 filings can surface early in a diligence process.
